Once you make friends with these widgets, you won’t want to forget them.
menu styles
There are different ways to create a menu and we have a video demonstrating this on the Tips page. To begin, you always need to make a menu hierarchy, which you can do via the WordPress Menu panel. This is found in the Appearance menu on the left of the dashboard. (Alternatively, you can create a menu hierarchy from within Appearance > Customise > Menus > Create … but we think this is less intuitive). You can create multiple menu hierarchies, each with a different label, to use in different places on your website. Once you have a menu hierarchy, you now need to style it, and this is where you have options:
- You can go to Appearance > Customise > Header and then place where you want a particular menu. This method is simple and you can change the header type (primary, transparent or sticky) on each page via Astra meta page settings. Be sure to check the appearance of the menu in desktop, tablet and mobile views from within Customiser. The downside of this method is that it doesn’t offer as much design creativity as other options.
- You could insert a menu styling widget in your page (anywhere on your page, including in a fly-out section. See the Space Saver > Off Screen page for more on that.) Menu styling widgets include Navigation Menu (with a fly-out preset option), Mega Menu and Mobile Nav Menu. The beauty of these menu widget is they allow you more stylistic control than in the Customiser.
svg draw
This is easily one of the coolest web design tools. Check it out here. See its tutorial here. If you want to ‘draw’ SVG text, you will need to use the Magic Scroll feature (Global Effects > Scrolling.)
search bar
You can use the PAP search widget (tutorial here) or the UAE search widget (tutorial here).
